Answer any five of the following questions:

(i) The writer likes travelling fast. He admits that such quick travel going fast in a car does not give the traveller the real pleasure of travel like that given by travelling in a country bus.

(v) We must have heard of Socrates, he was one of the greatest men of the world. He was a great Greek Philosopher. He had cut down all his needs to the barest minimum. When he went out on shopping he did not say, “I want this bush shirt” on the other hand he looked into a shop and said, “I do not want this I can do without it.” He found that he could easily do without most of the things. He had no need for many things. He was contented man because his demands were few and were easily satisfied. Thus a contentment was the style of his life. We should follow his footsteps.

(vi) The polythene bag pollutes our environment in various ways. When it is buried under the ground, it lessens the fertility of the soil. It chokes the drains. When it is burnt, it gives out a poisonous gas which is bad for health. It causes harm for a long time if it is not recycled.

(vii) Halku a poor farmer was farming field on rent by the money which he and his wife had collected by his labour pice by pice to buy a blanket. It was his great need to get through January nights in the field.
