Once he attacked Kalinga, To conquer Kalinga proved to be a difficult task to him. Thousand of innocent people were killed. The blood of innocent people touched Ashoka’s heart. He gave up fighting and adopted Buddhism. Later he did much for the spread of Buddhism and welfare of the public.
