Answer any two of the following questions in about 40 words:
 (i) What are the birds scared of? Explain in brief.
 (ii) What does ‘Silver Pitcher’ symbolize in the poem?
 (iii) Why does Radha’s friend go to Lord Krishna?
 (iv) Why is the porter out of breath?
Ans.
(i) The thrush get frightened (scared) to hear the gramophone songs and departs from there. The nightingale being offended keeps dumb. The unknown notes of gramophone songs are totally unfamiliar to them and so, being frightened they irritate.
(ii) ‘Silver pitcher symbolize for wealth. The wealthy man has seven silver pitchers full of gold coins. Gold coins are precious and their containers are also costly. They were made of silver.
(iii) Separation from Lord Krishna made Radha insane. She left every joy and happiness, thus her health began to fail. Her friend greatly concerned over this condition of Radha. So Radha’s friend runs to report to Lord Krishna about Radha’s condition.
(iv) The porter is out of breath because he is physically weak. He is very poor and does not earn as much as to meet his family needs. Due to his weak health and hard physical labour he is unable to breath normally. He is feeling himself suffocated.
